Our cruise starts at the Hyatt Regency Pier 66 hotel in Ft. Lauderdale. Here we will spend the night and tomorrow we'll be embark the ship in the afternoon.
Page introduction photo
The Hyatt Regency Pier 66 hotel is a beautiful and luxurious hotel, near a harbour with nice yachts. There's a tower and some lower buildings, all around the swimming pool.
The next morning we have still some time for a stroll near the beautiful yachts.
The Ft. Lauderdale cruise terminal. Every week many cruise ships leave this terminal, most of them headed for the Caribbean.
There she is! Behind the white ship there's our ship, "The Volendam".
Exploring the ship. Here we are in "The Crow's Nest", the bar and dance floor on one of the upper decks. Through the large windows you can see the other ships in the cruise terminal. See the 'Ship' page for more pictures of the ship.
Late in the afternoon we're finally leaving Ft. Lauderdale, headed for the Bahamas.
In the background you can still see the hotels of Ft. Lauderdale. Ft. Lauderdale is situated 20 miles (32 kilometers) from Miami and has lots of beaches, hotels and shops.
